Welcome

Welcome to Polished Dental!

This Clinic is run by an Independent Practicing Dental Hygienist (IPDH). The state of Maine authorizes hygienists to own and operate their own practice in order to bring preventative dental care to a wider range of those who live in rural states.

HOW IT WORKS:

Become a patient with Polished Dental for your preventative care. If you already have a dentist, you can keep them for all of your exams and restorative needs.  All of your notes, clinical findings and charts will be shared with your current dental provider. If you do not have a dental home, we can refer you to one as needed.

Our
Services

Adult Cleanings

Adult prophalaxies are for patients 14+ who have maintained a regular dental hygiene schedule and do not have gum attachment or bone loss.

Fluoride Treatments

Cavity risk assessments will be completed to see if the patient would benefit from fluoride varnish applications. This can also be performed on patients with tooth sensitivity.

Child Cleanings

Child prophalaxies are for patients 13 and under to remove plaque and tartar.

Full Mouth Debridement

Full mouth debridement (FMD) is a preliminary hygiene procedure to remove plaque and calculus that prevent a full dental hygiene diagnosis. This is commonly used for patients who have not been to a dental office in several years.

Sealants

Sealants are applied to unrestored molars and/or premolar pits and grooves to help prevent tooth decay.

Scaling and Root Planning

This procedure is for patients that have generalized inflammation, periodontal pocketing, tissue attachment loss and/or bone loss.

Periodontal Maintenence

This hygiene procedure is performed to help paitients maintain thier periodontal (gum) health. Usually a 3-4 month recall is advised based on patients needs.

Tara Savage

Independent Practicing Dental Hygienist (IPDH)

Founder of Polished Dental, Tara has been in the dental field since 2009. She started as an assistant, while earning her Bachelor's degree in Biology. After leaving the field for a few years, she decided dentistry was where she wanted to be and went back to school for dental hygiene. Since graduating in 2016, she has practiced in several offices in both Maine and New Hampshire as an assistant and hygienist. Most recently she has been practicing at Bethel Family Dentistry, whom she still plans on working closely with for patients restorative needs. With Bethel's growing population and demand for dental providers, she recognized a great opportunity to help the community by opening an independent dental hygiene office. She states, "I'm most excited about working in a relaxed atmosphere, giving full attention to each patient in a one on one environment".
